Dear Fellow Member
May I wish all fellow members a belated Happy New Year and may you enjoy good health and happiness in 2014.
These annual golf events are an important part of our international golfing fellowship ‘to promote the game of golf’. Please accept this as an open invitation to all members, nominated guests, Friends, supporters and sponsors to join us for either or both of the fixtures below:
Spring Meeting – Friday 11 April – Jubilee Course – 12.00 to 12.40 hrs
Grand Challenge Match – Friday 5 September – Jubilee Course – 12.40 to 13.20 hrs
Please put these dates in your diary and let me know if you hope and/or intend to play in either of the above events. An entry form will also be circulated nearer the time. The green fees for these fixtures will be kept to a minimum with the help of our local members who can utilise some of their ‘guest points’ on the Links. The golf is always followed by the prize-giving and supper in the St Andrews Golf Club, to which all playing and non-playing members and guests are duly invited. We look forward to seeing as many members and guests as possible participating in these golf fixtures.
During 2013 and early 2014 we welcomed three new members:
LM120 – Stephen Harris: brother-in-law of David Mutch, FLM 043.
LM121 – Andrea Hodel and LM122 – Mayra Fernandez: these two ladies are supporters of hickory golf and, as members of the Carolina Hickory Golf Society, believe in promoting the traditions of the game. Mayra is a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force and, as a disabled veteran, the Keepers mission of improving lives through powered mobility touches close to their hearts.
The highlight of 2013 was the presentation of six powered wheelchairs at the Open Championship at Muirfield – a lovely summer’s day in July resulted in great joy and happiness for six recipients and their families. A full review of the wheelchair presentation was previously circulated and is available to view on the Keepers website:
In addition, three chairs have been quietly re-presented for use by worthy applicants, following a full service / refurbishment and necessary adjustments to suit the individual’s personal requirements.
The affiliation fee for 2014 is now due and has been sent to you - £25 or $50. Your early settlement would be much appreciated.
The website remains an active tool for information for members and it relies on your input to ensure that it remains informative and responsive to your requirements. Your comments and contributions are always welcome.
Your continuing support of Keepers of the Green is gratefully acknowledged and we hope to see many members in St Andrews during 2014.
With kind regards
